Farmers’ Market and Hope returns

After a well-earned holiday break in January, Helston Farmers’ Market is back this Saturday 1st February at the Old Cattle Market building and will continue to trade on the first Saturday of each month throughout the year.

Hope O’Neill of Hope’s Bread is returning to the market after a year’s absence due to contracting breast cancer. ‘Hope has remained so positive throughout her treatments and is really excited about returning to the market,’ says Joanne Schofield, Market Controller. ‘It has not been easy for her and I know that our customers will be eagerly awaiting her return and to enjoy her fantastic selection of freshly baked breads.’

Helston Farmers market has been running since 2008 and now boasts over 30 stalls, with a wide variety of food and drink from very local suppliers. The market is organised by South Kerrier Alliance CIC but is entirely dependent on volunteers to make it work. Joanne Schofield says “Our small team of volunteers have been with us since the beginning and we could not operate this great market without them. However, we always need more help, at the moment especially to help us promote the market more widely, perhaps using social media or a website”. If you think you can help, contact Joanne Schofield or come to the Farmers market AGM at the Angel Hotel in Helston 6pm on the 10th Feb.

The market trades from 9.30am to 1.30pm with free parking available at the Penrose Amentity area next to Flora Motors. For more information, please contact Joanne Schofield on 01326 231146.
